As a collegiate athlete, Misty always had an interest in anatomy and physiology. It wasn’t until she experienced a back injury that she discovered the benefits of massage therapy for her own pain management. It was then that she decided to make a career change.
Misty is a LMT in the North Chattanooga Area. She is located at 13 W Kent Street, Suite 202, Room 107 on the 2nd floor of R3 Cryotherapy. Misty specializes in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, and Sports Massage. In addition, she has extensive training in Prenatal, Hot Stone, and Shiatsu. She incorporates modalities such as: NMT, Myofascial, Thai, Trigger Point Therapy, Aromatherapy, Muscle-Energy Techniques, and Reflexology. She is also 1st degree Reiki attuned. She has a freestyle approach and tailors each session according to the needs of her clients. She has also been trained in a variety of body treatments–salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, mud wraps, etc.
She received a Bachelors degree in English and minors in Theology and Art from Lee University. Afterwards, she went on to do an art apprenticeship at the Urban Art Institute, and then on to Grad school at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga attending for her Masters in English Literary Studies. Misty has been a practicing licensed massage therapist since 2005. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Miller Motte Technical College and made the Dean’s list after completing the Massage Therapy Program. Misty practiced in Chattanooga for four years and then relocated to Northern Michigan where she had been working for the past five years. She moved back to Chattanooga in 2014 and has reestablished her business.
