TYPES OF MASSAGE

Swedish: The most common type of massage. A relaxation massage with light to medium pressure combining soothing strokes.

Deep Tissue: For those who enjoy firm therapeutic pressure to release deep rooted tension within the body. Neuromuscular Therapy techniques are applied where needed.

Sports: A more vigorous massage incorporating stretches and deep pressure with faster strokes. This massage is maintenance for athletes and those who are active. It is designed to enhance athletic performance, help prevent injuries, keep the body flexible, and speed up recovery time.

Hot Stone: This massage is a truly relaxing experience. Stones hand-picked from Lake Michigan and Lake Superior are used in this therapeutic massage. Hot Stone dissolves tensions & calms nerves by strategically placing & massaging heated stones on the body.

Neuromuscular Therapy: This technique manipulates with static pressure the soft tissue within the body (muscles, tendons, and connective tissue) to balance the central nervous system. By applying trigger point work, NMT addresses postural distortion, biomechanics, nerve compression, and ischemia.

Trigger Point Therapy:  this is a technique that works to release painful, tension in muscles and fascia that you would usually experience as a knot in the muscle. There are many different approaches to trigger point therapy to reduce or eliminate the knot pain and associated pain including soft tissue work, deep tissue massage, stretching,  and ischemic pressure.

Prenatal: This massage is designed for the expecting or new mother. It is a relaxing massage that addresses all the aches, pains, and tension common during pregnancy. Must be in 2nd or 3rd trimester and 1 hour sessions only. Client is on the table in a side-lying position with plenty of comfortable pillows. *Please consult with your physician before receiving any type of bodywork while pregnant.

Aromatherapy: All natural essential oils and hot towels are added to your therapy of choice for an additional $5.  Pick 3 aromas of your choice from a selection of over 30 essential oils!

Reflexology: This ancient technique uses pressure point massage on the feet and hands to restore energy throughout the body. It is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body.

Salt/Sugar Scrubs: this is a type of exfoliating treatment in which coarse salt or sugar infused with oil and aromatherapy of your choice is used to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. Hot towels are used to remove the salt/sugar and then a body butter is applied. A great add on to any massage!

Chair Massage:  This is a 15-30 minute massage that focuses on the high tension areas of the neck, back, shoulders, arms & hands with the client’s clothes on. Chair massage is performed on a specially designed portable massage chair.
